No, this is not Okabe's 'first kiss' what he talked about in Ep22.

Firstly, this movie is non-canon. The official after story is the Holy Day of Scourge Light Novel. Also, the movie breaks the established time travel rules, so it can't be canon.

Secondly, even if the movie was canon, Okabe's first kiss what he talked about can't be this kiss, because... that's not how time travel works in Steins;Gate. Back then, this kiss wasn't a thing, since Steins Gate worldline hasn't happened yet.

Thirdly, in the VN (the source material) Okabe explicitely states, that his first kiss was with Mayuri. They playfully kissed when they were young. That's why he said that it wasn't a romantic kiss.

So in the end he and Kurisu never become official? I thought the True Ending of the VN novel was Episode 24 of the anime and the contents of Episode 25 were canon?

So pretty much this movie was a cash grab? lol

Where Ep24 ends, that's where the VN ends. The OVA is not canon either.

From Robotics;Notes DaSH, we know that Okabe studies at the same university as Kurisu. That's all we know about them officially.

Nice movie, this time concentrated on Kurisu. It expanded her relationship with Okarin and showed Okarin's problems due to visiting many other timelines.

Although I feel that if this movie had been shorter, it could've been better as a whole.

This went from 0 to 100. Those first minutes I was smiling like a dumbass the whole time. Kurisu tsundereness was at full level. That was a bliss. But then the shit got really emotional, and I found myself on the verge of tears many times.

I thought Kurisu was going to be honest with his feelings to Okabe by the end of the movie but that never happened tho.

1. He didn't die
2. Kurisu was saved by Okabe from another worldline and not one who is on the SG worldline.
3. Even if we assume the first 2 points are not true, Okabe's death would have no impact on this Kurisu. The moment she uses the time machine she is disconnected from typical causality.

Yo she just kissed a kid lmao
Ok so the alternative personality play, first kiss, and why he said those things to mayuri at the graveyard but didn't know why, was all kurisus doing. Then I guess he remembered it all after blipping back after the little talk with her?

Overall guess it tied up some loose ends for hopefully an actual true happy ending in this world line lol but a fun nice edition and alot easier to understand after watching the main series.

Well, not really. Originally he got the mad scientist persona idea from a TV show they watched together with Mayuri and came up with the name Hououin Kyouma himself. The first kiss he was talking about in Steins;Gate (that it "was not romantic" was actually with Mayuri):

[249][name]Rintaro[line]“S-Sorry to disappoint you.”[%p]
[250][name]Kurisu[line]“...Huh?”[%p]
[251][name]Rintaro[line]“That wasn’t my first kiss.”[%p]
[252][name]Kurisu[line]“Wh-Why you... You’re just a cherry boy!”[%p]
[253][name]Rintaro[line]“Shut up, virgin.”[%p]
[254]I remember playfully kissing Mayuri in elementary school.[%p]
[255]And just a little while ago, I forcibly kissed Moeka to silence her.[%p]

Back then, Okabe was talking about this, but now, on the Steins Gate worldline Kurisu changed this - but back in S;G Okabe couldn't remember this as it is yet to happen.

Muow said:

Yes, that was the point. Because of PTSD, Okabe is unable to observe the Steins Gate worldline. He is recognized as an error for the world, thus is he is yeeted beyond the Load Region. Kurisu is giving him a strong memory, thus he can observe the world, and the world and the others will also be able to observe him. Thus he can return back to the Load Region.

Drunk Kurisu is so damn cute! Also, I never thought I would see Kurisu fanservice in this series. She looks sexy in that loose pink clothing, btw.
Good Rintarou and Kurisu kissing scene.

This was a good movie, but unnecessary, IMO. That conclusion was way too convenient. Didn't they say that any changes made have consequences? Returning to 2005 to steal Rintaou's first kiss is considered changing the timeline and should've also had consequences. This movie would've been so much better if it ended bittersweetly, with Rintarou disappearing since that is the price he has to pay to keep Kurisu and Mayuri alive. That ending would've made sense as well.

Having watched this after Steins;Gate 0, I think Kurisu really is the lynch pin for the series. 0 is not bad but it really sags in the middle before sticking the landing reasonably well. But this movie is just immediately great and stays emotionally impactful for the whole time and the key factor is that Kurisu is in it the whole time. She is a great character and has great interactions with everyone as well as being very directly useful to the plot.

Honestly, for what a big deal people make about watch order I think just watching the original stuff in release order and then not even bothering with 0 is the best way.

I rewatched Steins;Gate over the last couple months, last watching it in 2014, and loved it even more than I did then. I'm a sucker for a Japanese time loop. I blew off this movie expecting it to another one of those derivative cash cows for the early 2010s most overhyped anime, always planning to watch it but never actually getting to it until... 10 years later???

I think it's easy to blow off how important this film is for rounding out Okabe and Christina's character arcs, and for 3/4 of the film, I almost did too. As anime films tend to go, this film feels like an excuse to give us more of the characters we love manufacturing drama in the process to invent fucks. Christina mourned, weeping, a poignant line near the dramatic climax, however, easy to miss:

Oh my god, oh my god, the poor bastard. This is exactly what he went through.

Okabe is a fucking excellent character that the series treats with maybe too much importance, and the despair of Steins;Gate is that he is alone in his agony, undergoing an adventure and trauma no one else could ever empathize with – until realities blur and Christina submerges herself down his route, just one time. And that, to my eyes, rounds out their character arcs & romance so poetically; how beautiful is it to be understood? How could Okabe and Christina ever truly grow when this gulf of experience and trauma separates them?

The little cherry on top is Steins;Gate eating its own tail, as it loves to do, allowing Christina to be the muse that catalyzes Okabe's character arc, planting the seeds which blossom him into one of anime's most beloved characters. I loved the speech; I loved the kiss.

and y'know, maybe none of that really mattered; I love my romantic tragedies, and S;G ends on this bittersweet note of everyone saved yet an inseparable gulf between our protagonists. But what kind of nihilistic, hateful cunt do I have to be to never want to see lovers reconcile, hero and heroine finally brought together? necessary, no, I suppose not, but it's a beautiful epilogue that sands off the edges to the main Steins;Gate ending. Unlike Fullmetal Alchemist (03), which lives in my breast because of it's harrowing themes & inconclusive ending – the sort which indeed made Conqueror of Shamballa wholly unnecessary – those niggling Steins;Gate frays do not leave it for the better.

Steins;Gate is peak fiction and uprated to a full 10/10 after the recent rewatch. The Burden of Deja Vu is not a 10/10, but fuck, it made me emotional and I loved it.

Deja vu is explained by the brain misfiring and short term memory malfunctioning, causing the present moment to be immediately loved to long term memory and conjuring the sensation of the current moment being in the past. But I instead love the explanation for deja vu being memories misfiring as other timelines bleed through into ours. I'm choosing to believe it, because why the fuck not.

So, i guess it's fine, hella fine, for those who already watched original S;G with its additional 25th special episode, it's really fine, you have all our favorite characters, some new plot that thank God has a connection to our main plot/idea(the subject matter is similar), like it's not a fucking try to invent a new bicycle or smth else, it's good. As the last piece of the puzzle i found it really sad☹️😓😢

Didn't get the last part(ending) though, perhaps i got a little bit tired. Btw i liked the statement by Okabe when he implied that R;S has everybody, but someone has it stronger, someone has a weaker one, it makes sense tho. Because some might've complained "How is that possible that only he has that ability and no one else, what are the chances?"

So our fella felt kinda sick and he started to switch the world-lines i guess, and since that everybody got it erased from their minds, like he never existed at all. And somehow Kurisu made a time-leap with saved memory**
And then she made a goofy ass stumble and due to that kid Okabe died, alr. Ofc 18yo girl knew that since the beginning, is she a legend???????
Love the way that Kurisu she understood what it would be like to be in his place. How it is, being misunderstood, you saved the world but no one would believe to you, being in that eternal-everlasting loop, and nobody can help you, the mountains of responsibility on your shoulders, you may go crazy, btw the cry tho💀💀💀

Forgot about OST, it's good tho, really, the "GATE OF STEINER" or was it "Christina", do not remember but it is what it is, the beginning and the outro, good good.

That vibe, cozy vibe of S;G series, that characters, some are still irritating jaja, but they are homies, OG's. Hadn't watched S;G for like 2-3 weeks(1 month if the counter starts from original S;G series).

Since i found the ending slightly unfinished, blurry; and since the devs are the same(i guess), the plot, the OST, the idea, the chars, it's fine, didn't find something INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, AMMUSING, fascinating, mesmerizing etc.
It's fine.

P.S Idk why, i had really low expectations about exactly this movie, but they were wrong, so yea, instead of reading it, you better go ahead and watch it, you might find it really entertaining(it was sometimes for me).

The kissing was what done it for me. Kissing a child on the lips when you can easily have done it on the cheek, will still make it work with the MC saying “Care to give me my first kiss, my first kiss wouldn’t count”. Along those lines. 6/10 anime. Season is definitely better.

So it turns out Kirisu was the catalyst for Okabe's peculiar behavior. It's a far-fetched idea 😅 but it did serve as an excuse to touch on some of the consequences of the odyssey for Okabe himself, albeit rather superficially.

This work doesn't have much to do with a movie, and honestly, we could have left it at the series finale with its bonus fanservice OVA. It wouldn't have mattered; we wouldn't have lost anything. It was just a little adventure starring Kirisu. But being the epilogue to such a wonderful work, it's impossible not to applaud it and thank it with tears in your eyes.
